Pet Tips: Changing the litter you use for your cat(s)
If you decide to change the litter you are using for your feline friends, it's best to do20so gradually, so that the cats aren't stressed out about the change. Start by adding about 25% of the new litter to the old (in the same box, in the same location). Gradually (over a matter of several weeks or so) add more of the new litter. This way, the cats will slowly get used to the change, with less stress (and therefore fewer accidents).
If you suddenly introduce a new litter without a transitional period, many cats will avoid the litter box and may make messes in places that you prefer them to avoid.
